Thou shalt have no other mp3 players before me. Thou shalt not make for thyself a fork. Thou shalt not make wrongful use of the name of thy XMMS. Remember the Black Sabbath and play it loudly. Honor thy Peter and Mikael. Thou shalt not emerge(1). Thou shalt not commit jump to file patch. Thou shalt not steal from international media corporations. Thou shalt not submit a gentoo patch against thy upstream. Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's new shiny 0.4 release.

Nothing is more sacred than someone's code, and no words more precious than words that celebrate someone's life. And so, we say to you: Everytime we think of XMMS, we thank Peter, and pray for XMMS2 with tears of joy. For Peter began a good work in X11amp, and will complete that in years to come. Our prayer for XMMS now is this: that XMMS' love grow richer in knowledge and insight of every kind, that you learn by experience what really matters, that on the day you appear before Peter, may Peter welcome XMMS2 0.4 as a flawless gift, a rich harvest of praise, through mercy of Anders Waldenborg. May Peter bless you and keep you; May Peter shed his light upon you, May Peter look upon you kindly and give you peace. A birthday is an occasion for prayer, a holy time. A journey began. Peter blessed someone with life. Remembering the gift of life, we thank Peter and celebrate.

Bye Bye Slackware!

XMMS has been removed from the Slackware distribution.

No, thank YOU for keeping a clean and tidy version of XMMS around without a gazillion insane patches. We will always love you! It's unlikely we will cross paths again, but we've enjoyed the lack of support cases the Slackware distribution has caused us. Much love <3 <3 <3.

XMMS2 Graphic Contest

The wealthy guys working on XMMS2 has decided they can't design for shit and decided to throw a pile of money at the best graphic monkey to submit a logotype of their perverse liking. If you think money is fun and designing a logo for a rather decent player (even though they don't use GTK+1) you can always check out their site at http://xmms2-contest.blogspot.com/.
