"I'm beyond pissed off, I want [to] stab somebody, maybe several sombodies [sic], right in the goddamn face."
- polyhead (concerning removal of XMMS from Gentoo portage)
"Now can we get back to complaining about the scheduler behaviour and xmms? Please?"
- Linus Torvalds
"I just got xmms-2.0.0 working, good luck, and xmms1 sucks.
Fuck you nerd!"

Nothing is more sacred than someone's code, and no words more precious than words that celebrate someone's life. And so, we say to you:Everytime we think of XMMS, we thank Peter, and pray for XMMS2 with tears of joy. For Peter began a good work in X11amp, and will complete that in years to come. Our prayer for XMMS now is this: that XMMS' love grow richer in knowledge and insight of every kind, that you learn by experience what really matters, that on the day you appear before Peter, may Peter welcome XMMS2 0.4 as a flawless gift, a rich harvest of praise, through mercy of Anders Waldenborg. May Peter bless you and keep you; May Peter shed his light upon you, May Peter look upon you kindly and give you peace. A birthday is an occasion for prayer, a holy time. A journey began. Peter blessed someone with life. Remembering the gift of life, we thank Peter and celebrate. | ![]() "What would Peter Alm do?" |

XMMS has been removed from the Slackware distribution.
Thu Mar 15 19:43:10 CDT 2007 xap/xmms-1.2.10-i486-3.tgz: XMMS developers: THANK YOU for your years of dedication. We look forward to considering a new GTK+2 based design some time in the future. (Package removed).
No, thank YOU for keeping a clean and tidy version of XMMS around without a gazillion insane patches. We will always love you! It's unlikely we will cross paths again, but we've enjoyed the lack of support cases the Slackware distribution has caused us. Much love <3 <3 <3.

The wealthy guys working on XMMS2 has decided they can't design for shit and decided to throw a pile of money at the best graphic monkey to submit a logotype of their perverse liking. If you think money is fun and designing a logo for a rather decent player (even though they don't use GTK+1) you can always check out their site at http://xmms2-contest.blogspot.com/.
